Parle-nous de tes débuts de basketteur…
J’ai commencé le basket à 5 ans, suivant les traces de mon grand frère Erick. J’ai commencé à jouer pour Boulazac cette saison, je suis arrivée en août pour un contrat d’1 an.
Je suis né et j’ai grandi à Dyckman, Manhattan dans l’état de New York. J’ai d’abord appris à jouer au terrain de basket de mon quartier, j’ai ensuite intégré l’équipe de Basket de mon lycée puis je suis devenu professionnel.
Pourquoi le numéro 4 ? Que signifie-t-il à tes yeux ?
Le numéro 4 a deux significations différentes pour moi. La première est que je suis très croyant, c’est une manière de retranscrire l’expression « ALL4GOD ». La seconde est qu’il représente les 4 membres de ma famille. Ma mère, mon père et mes deux grands frères. Depuis que je suis basketteur professionnel, je ne peux pas passer autant de temps avec eux que je le voudrais, mais ils sont toujours dans mon cœur.
Comment se passe ton confinement ? Comment l’organises-tu ?
Pour le moment je suis confiné seul. J’essaie de m’occuper et de rester calme à la maison jusqu’à la fin de cette période difficile en France.
J’essaie de trouver ma routine. J’ai du temps pour me reposer, je fais un peu de sport à la maison et je m’occupe de moi-même en suivant notamment mon traitement pour la récupération musculaire (système de récupération Normatec, machine à tiges, étirements, etc).
Quelque chose à rajouter ?
J’aimerais profiter de cette interview pour remercier mes fans pour leur amour et leur soutien. Cela signifie énormément pour beaucoup de joueurs et pour le club tout entier. J’aimerais encourager tout le monde à suivre les gestes barrières et à rester confiné en sécurité. C’est le plus important en ce moment. Nous avons eu un début de saison difficile avec des blessures et des tests positifs à la Covid. Nous avons dû nous arrêter à plusieurs reprises afin que tout le monde se soigne et revienne en bonne santé. Nous travaillons dur à chaque entrainement et nous sommes impatients de vous montrer ce dont nous sommes capables sur le terrain et de vous faire passer un bon moment !

How do you start to play basketball?
I started basketball at the age of 5, following my older brother Erick’s footsteps. I started playing for boulazac this season. I arrived in august and I’m under a 1 year contract.
I was born and raised in Dyckman, New York. A lot of my game developed in the street ball court of my neighborhood, from there that translated to aau basketball, high school, college ball and now professionally
Why did you choose the number 4?
My basketball is number 4 and it has two very significant means to me. The first one is that in everything I do I try to give god the glory. So I do it ALL4GOD. The second meaning is that I have 4 members of my immediate family. My mom and dad and two older brothers. Since becoming an international basketball player, I don’t get the chance to spend as much time as I’d like to with them, but they’re always in my heart.
How does your quarantine going?
At the moment I’m confined alone. I try to keep myself busy and my mind fresh in my house until we get over this hard time in France.
During quarantine I try keep myself in some type of routine. I have my time for rest, to do small at home workouts, moments I do my treatment things such as normatec, stem machine and stretching.
Do you want to say something else?
During this time I just want to tell our fans thank you for the love and support. It means a lot to the us as players and the organization. I would encourage everyone to take the right protocol and to stay safe. It’s what’s most important right now. As far as our season, we’ve had a tough start to the season, with injuries and positive covid test. We had to stop things for some time until everyone recovered and got well. We are working hard everyday in practice and training and we’re looking forward to puttin a great product on the court that you the fans can enjoy.. be safe 😀
